Show Notes

Your favorite ladies are back at it again! And jumping right into it with fresh rants and raves. Well, not many raves, not much to rave about, but plenty to rant about.

Lenya has a big decision to make. She was invited to the USA Power Lifting competition, but they ban trans people. So she’s weighing if she should go and try to speak up about her views, or not go in protest. There are difficult and strong views on both sides. What do you think, listener? Let us know via email or social! We want to hear from you.

Alexandra got some frank news from her doctor, and it was a bitter pill to swallow. Listen in and hear exactly what he said, and how it went down.

Microaggressions

“A microaggression is a comment or gesture (whether made intentionally or not) that feeds into stereotypes or negative assumptions created around oppressed or marginalized groups of people. The term was first used in the 1970s by Harvard's Chester M. Pierce, MD. They tend to be based on a person’s race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability—and to the recipient, can feel like an attack.” [June 11, 2020 Oprah Magazine article](https://www.oprahmag.com/life/relationships-love/a26294696/what-is-microaggression/). Still Processing the Dobbs Decision

Still Processing the Dobbs Decision   Just a nice easy laid-back episode about abortion. We need to talk about vaginas more, and this is the perfect place to start.   Alexandra and Lenya both share their own abortion stories, and discuss the anxieties of kids coming of age in a society that restricts abortion.   Alexandra also reads an incredible poem by Jacaranda School for Orphan’s student Felicia Luciano called Our Members of Parliament. A poignant and direct statement in beautiful language.   https://www.plannedparenthood.org   --   **We want to hear from you!** Let us know how you’re speaking about these issues with your friends. **Let us know what topics you want to hear!**   Email us at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]om)   You can find us at: [WomenBridgingtheGap.com](https://womenbridgingthegap.com)    Lenya’s Tik Tok: [@lenya_styles](https://www.tiktok.com/@lenya_styles   Or on Instagram: * Find Lenya at: [@lenya_styles](https://www.instagram.com/lenya_styles) * And Alexandra at: [@a_xandra17](https://www.instagram.com/a_xandra17) and [@thewritingleap](https://www.instagram.com/thewritingleap) * And the show is at: [@women_bridging_the_gap](https://www.instagram.com/women_bridging_the_gap/)   This podcast was edited by Brendan Hutchins from Podcast Advocate.
